Strategic Summary
Valeria Duflot is a board director and governance leader who brings a rare combination of founder’s grit, systems intelligence and relational depth to the boards she serves. With 15 years of executive experience spanning venture building, coalition stewardship, policy strategy and field-building, she provides boards with the foresight, oversight and insight required to stay focused on their mission through complexity, volatility and transformation.
A Franco-Malagasy neuroscientist-turned-consultant-turned-social impact leader, fluent across French, English and Italian, she has founded and led organisations in both the Global South and Global North, bringing lived and professional experience of both contexts to every governance conversation. Her approach is grounded in neuroscience, behavioural science and systems thinking, and shaped by almost two decades of building and stewarding ecosystems from the ground up.
She brings a feminist leadership approach to governance: prioritising collaboration, shared power, accountability and the inclusion of diverse voices in decision-making. She is known for going beyond the minimum board member role: serving as ombudsperson, bridging secretariat and board, raising critical issues with courage and care, and rolling up her sleeves for whatever the governance work demands.
