All the projects I start or engage with have a commonality: they are aiming to create value for people, places and the planet. Their impact is either economic, social, cultural or environmental, often cross cutting.
I believe that business should be a force for good and that no one organisation can solve the unprecedented crises we are facing.
Our only real option to build forward better is to work together.

My main focus, currently
I currently dedicate most of my time to enabling the acceleration of the transformation of tourism from an extractive and explotative industry into a regenerative and equitable one.
Why?
Tourism was – prior to Covid19 – one of the biggest sectors in the world, growing faster than the global gross GDP and providing over 300M jobs worldwide, often to the most vulnerable. Despite a footprint that touches every aspects of the places where we live and travel, the sectors does not account for its impact but only for its growth. As a result it is a highly unsustainable sector, with adverse effects on people, places and the planet. However and as recognized by the UN, tourism has the potential to support the 17 SDGs.
Beyond this, I’m industry agnostic. I engage with projects where I can contribute to:
- Build the field of social innovation and social entrepreneurship
- Accelerate the SDGs and climate action
- Support innovation and the development of new models of business
- Support the transformation of social, political and economic ecosystems
- Help leverage (digital) tech for good
- Help transform narratives, leverage marketing and communication to change mindsets
My overarching goal is to help build a more inclusive and sustainable society where no one is left behind and our environment and cultures thrive.

Venezia Autentica is an award-winning social enterprise working to transform tourism in Venice, Italy by changing the way people see and want to experience the city and making it easy for them to support and help preserve the local community, economy and heritage.
VA is recognized by industry and government leaders globally as a “frontrunner” and an innovative new practice and model for destinations and industry alike
Sharing our model and learning with the world
Overtourism Solution is the brand through which Venezia Autentica’s model and learning are shared globally with industry and government leaders through advocacy and knowledge sharing.
We speak at high-level policy and industry conferences and engage directly with stakeholders around the globe. Our interlocutors include top tier media, leading industry and destination associations, government representatives of all levels and continents, education providers from business schools to leading sustainable travel training such as the GSTC and more .
and Enabling collective action and catalysing change
Tourism Allies is an early-stage non-profit initiative aiming to empower changemakers to unlock the potential of tourism to heal and support the well-being of people, places and the planet. Launching its first pilots in 2023, our objective is to leverage the power of collaborations and creativity to empower communities with what they need to be in the lead of a tourism industry that serves their needs.
Keeping sight of a shared north star
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The 17 SDGs are integrated—they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.
The creativity, knowhow, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context.

Organising Changemakers to Advance the SDGs
I am a board member of Catalyst 2030, a global network of changemakers and a co-chair of both its Regional Europe Chapter, and its working group on UN and government advocacy and collaboration. In these roles, I contribute to advancing the SDGs by helping to build the field of social entrepreneurship, and facilitating and engaging in multistakeholder collaborations.
Catalyst 2030 is a member-driven network of social innovators working together to accelerate actions towards the SDGs. Created in 2019, the network counts 1300+ member organizations working together to achieve the 2030 agenda.
Transforming our Energy systems
I was appointed by the European Commission as an ambassador of the EUSEW in 2021 and a digital ambassador of the EUSEW every year since 2020.
The EU Sustainable Energy Week is the biggest event in sustainable energy in Europe.
In my role as an ambassador I advocate for the transformation of the European Energy systems and for action towards the European Green Deal and Paris Agreement through speaking at the high-level policy conference, writing articles and more.
Making stories of Change visible
Medias play a key role in shaping our realities. Together with a diverse group of changemakers, I explore how we can make stories that inspire the desire to create change in the world, the norm in mainstream media. We’re building a protoype and running a consultation. Feel free to reach out to know more!
Mentoring and Supporting Others
I regularly collaborate with programs to inspire and support others to unlock their potential to make a positive impact and live a purposeful life. You can learn more here.
Understanding and Fostering Co-Existence
This is another initiative I am passionate about.
I co-create and -chair this collective of diverse changemakers exploring how to foster equity and “coexistence” in the 21st century. Our goal is to contribute to build a more equitable and sustainable society by fostering conversation about co-existence and creating the right enabling environment for us to live better together.
There is no doubt that Valeria is one of the most remarkable members of Catalyst 2030! Her proactivity, positive leadership and incredible capacity to build teams and facilitate them to achieve their goals, just makes her a role model for this global network of social entrepreneurs! It is a real pleasure to work with Valeria, her ability to connect with people, make them feel included and heard and get the best of each one of them is just inspiring. Personally, I do not believe in the separation between the personal and professional selves. I believe we are one person that evolves in several environments.
